Professional Background
Midwifery Training
My midwifery studies began through apprenticeship in Phoenix Arizona, in 1998. I  moved to Texas in February
2002 to attend midwifery school at  Maternidad La Luz in El Paso.  My training took place in a very busy free
standing clinic/birth center. The birth center was staffed entirely by midwives and students  where we cared for
women in various stages of pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum. In addition to our obstetrical training we
also provided well women care.  Academic and clinical training were integrated, allowing hands on experience.
The areas of study included, nutrition, well woman care, breastfeeding, maternal assessment, pelvimetry, lab
work, emergency skills, prenatal complications, neonatal resuscitation, newborn issues, suturing, water birth,
unusual birth presentations etc. My training enabled me to participate in over 160 births and act as a  primary
midwife for 80 births, and to attend  hundreds of prenatal exams.

I believe that pregnancy is a healthy, normal
state of being, and that women are perfectly
designed to give birth to their babies.  I feel
honored to have the privilege of being with so
many women and their families during this
incredibly important time.  Regardless of the
role I am playing on a woman's journey into
motherhood, I strive to be nurturing,
compassionate, and a calming presence. I rely
on my education and experience to help guide
and empower clients, while always maintaining
respect for their instincts and for the birth
process. I consider it a joy and a privilege to
help women make informed birth choices.

Birth is a natural & normal process.
Labor & birth  will unfold naturally in a safe
and comfortable environment.  When
mother & baby experience a gentle birth,
they bond  easily.  Babies are alert &
sensitive beings who respond to there new
surroundings.  Women who experience
natural birth feel empowered & confident in
their mothering abilities, allowing them to
gain a strong connection that will last a
lifetime.  I believe that birth is an event to be
cherished forever, a miracle of which we are
all privileged to be a part of....
